Rustic Meets Modern Table--All Reclaimed Materials
Rustic meets Modern in a table with clean lines and heavy timber with steel.
This table consists of all reclaimed or recycled components from old wood beams and old steel structural brackets. The only parts that were purchased new were the 4 rolling castors.
The legs were sawn from several old beams we reclaimed. We kept and exposed the existing old bolt holes and think they add a nice detail. The cross piece was dovetailed into the table legs for stability. Reclaimed stainless steel brackets were used on top of the legs to anchor into the top, which weighs several hundred pounds.
The top is white oak planking salvaged from an old barn door. The legs are pressure treated southern yellow pine.
One of the goals of the design, in addition to using almost all reclaimed materials, was to expose any wood joinery and dowel work as much as possible.
I am grateful to several amazing craftspeople for constructing the table in less than two days: brilliant Rocky Mt., NC woodworker Ray Roche, assisted by his wife Karlene and crew members.
