Zephyr Work Table (2008)
The Zephyr Table is a multi-tasking workhorse that was designed to be as light as possible.

Zephyr is light on the environment and light enough to move with one hand.  Zephyr is made with two materials that contribute to LEED “Recycled Content” points: Panelite translucent polymer sheet and stainless steel.  Zephyr is also suitable for disabled individuals with limited mobility and strength and helps make design accessible to all.

I needed a lot of things in a table and couldn’t find it.  It had to be environmentally responsible, attractive, light, versatile, easy to use, easy to move, easy to transport, and both a work and meeting table.  I couldn’t find it, so I designed it.  It was even more light weight than I had dreamed and can be moved around with one hand only.  The ease of use makes it appropriate for disabled individuals with limited mobility and strength.  I named the table “Zephyr” because it moves like a breeze.  Zephyr may be light and graceful but it is no “lightweight” – being a tough workhorse that locks into place with industrial brake casters.

For the support structure of the table, I used stainless steel because it is incredibly durable, never needs toxic coatings or paints, is hygienic and easy to clean and is 100% recyclable.  The post consumer recycled content of stainless steel is already at least 75-80%.  Unlike many other materials, the recycling process does not degrade stainless steel and it can be recycled over and over again without losing its strength.  I also think its beautiful.
